Approach with Caution

Today, I should come with a warning label! Seriously all it takes is a "wrong" look, and it don't be surprised if you lose your head. My mom says this is a sign that labor is approaching. I hope she is right! I'm pretty sure this is one day that the hubs should be VERY happy to be on the other side of the world.

i carry your heart

Three years ago today, the Hubs and I were married in an intimate, slightly thrown together wedding. We had planned to get married in April, but the Hubs got orders for Iraq. Three weeks later, I was walking down the aisle of my grandparents church. Despite the reason for the rush and some key people missing, the day was pretty incredible.  With about 500 fabulous pictures, these are just a few of my favorites.

I love this picture because my aunt and I have the same ring. She wears hers as an anniversary band, but I love that you can see hers in this picture.

Details! We used our engagement album as our guest book. I still love looking at it.

Isn't he handsome?

Our oh-so-fun toasting glasses!

I leave you with an excerpt of the poem that Adam's cousin read at the wedding.

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling) ~ E.E Cummings

Small Voices Making a Difference

Almost two years ago, I had the incredible privilege of being in a closed-door, sit down with the First Lady. She was here meeting with military spouses and giving us a chance to express our concerns. She wanted to know what she could do as First Lady to help military families.

I was so excited to see that something has come out of not only the meeting I was privileged to be part of but also the numerous meetings that her and Dr. Biden had on military installations across the country. Check out what is being done here

Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures. All I had was my cell phone because I was misinformed and told that I could not have my camera. Oh well!

Precious Metal

I am a sentimental romantic when it comes to jewelry. I have very few pieces that are not from a specific person or event. I love looking in the mirror or on my hand and knowing the story/person behind each piece.

I don't think there is a more romantic or memorable time to get a piece of jewelry from your husband than when it's in honor of giving birth to a child. I've looked at a lot of pieces recently - necklaces, bracelets, etc. I have come to the conclusion that just because it's in honor of your child it doesn't have to be something cheesy. I think the below would be the perfect gift *cough* Hubs *cough.

The Radiance Ring from Swarovski found here. Isn't it beautiful?

Made It!

Until Baby Snick gets here, I have to say the best part of staying at home is naps with Bailey. Come on, how can you refuse that face?

Crazy Thought

Bailey was just snuggling up on my chest, and I had a crazy, frightening, exciting thought. In just a few short weeks, Baby Snick will be sleeping on my chest. Wow!

I can't believe how fast and slow the last nine months have gone. The nursery is ready other than little decorating items. Everything has been washed from her clothes to her binkies. We are ready to go. Even her bag is packed. My bag will get packed day of. Simply because the weather here has been crazy. The clothing that would be good today will most likely not work next week. Anywho, we are ready. Now we are just playing the waiting game. I'm trying to use the time to finish little projects like the mobile for the nursery to finally getting our Maui pics made into a coffee table book. We'll see how productive I actually am.

Special Day

Today is a special day! It's my Mom's birthday. Last year, we went to the beach for Mom's birthday. This year, since my wings have been clipped, they came to me for Mom's birthday dinner. We had a great time at dinner last night. since I didn't take any pics from last night, here are a few from last year. All pics by me except the one of the Hubs and I. He took that.

Aren't my parents cute?

The Hubs is pretty cute also!

There was a storm our last morning. I love stormy beach weather.

Bailey had no idea what to do with this crab shell.

It's a Bailey Day!

Do you ever get the feeling that your dog is the one that REALLY has the life? I'm starting to think Bailey has this life thing down pat!
She frolics in the snow

Sleeps

Gets Treats

And plays

Then she repeats until the day is over and it's time for bed. Seriously, who has the life here? All photos by me.

New Beginnings and a Blog Mentor

A new chapter begins! As of 5pm today, I will be officially be a stay at home wife/mommy. In all honesty, I'm entering this stage with a lot of mixed emotions. For the last three years, I have been privileged to work at a great job with the most incredible people. My co-workers have become my friends, and I am sad to leave this place that has become like a second home. I am thrilled that we will be welcoming Baby Snick here in just a few short weeks, but am not sure what I will do with myself between now and then. Perhaps get started on that long list of things "I'm going to do when I have time." You know little things like finish the nursery. I'm trying to stay positive about this change, but it's been a hard change to handle. However, come this time Monday when I'm taking a nap instead of sitting at a desk, I may have a completely different opinion.

In other exciting news, as I mentioned here, I'm taking part in After I Do's big sis/lil sis blog mentoring program. Today I got my "Big Sis." I'm so excited to be paired with Monica from BlessedMama. I'm so excited. We've already realized that we have a common interest in horses and photography! This is going to be fun.

Winter Wonderland Part 2

We got hit again! About 5" of snow with a nice glazing of ice, I'm not impressed. Christmas snow is awesome! Second week of January I'm pregnant and home alone snow/ice - not so awesome! Oh well! I have cooked (homemade vegetable soup with homemade croutons), cleaned and done laundry. I also finished my first book (The Hunger Games) on my kindle.

So what now? I'm not sure. The kindle has been a boredom saver! I just downloaded Catching Fire (sequel to The Hunger Games) and will be diving in shortly. I'm also starting to focus on my after-delivery weight loss plan. However much more time in the house, and I'm going to have to get really creative! Any ideas?

Surprise from Hubby

The Hubs surprised me with an after Christmas - Christmas present this week. My very own Kindle! I'm so excited and can only imagine how much use I will get out of it. So excited!

Since he has the black one, he got me the white one so that we can keep them apart. Have I mentioned lately how wonderful he is?

On a completely different note, if you haven't checked out Krysten's blog After I Do, you need to! She is starting a blogging mentor program. What an awesome idea! I'm definitely in.
