Goodbye, Winter!

It seems that winter is still clinging to the Southeast. I know it's still February, and this is normal. I'm just so ready for Spring. For budding flowers and trees, light jackets and pretty dresses, flip flops and long walks outside, warm winds and sunshine.

In an order to brighten my own mood and hopefully your's at the same time, here are a few of my favorite things that I'm happy about today.
~ Sunshine. It might be cold but at least the sun is out.
~ the Hubs' best friend coming to visit.
~ Upcoming weekend vacations
~ 5 Hour Energy Drink
~ Awesome co-workers
~ Bailey. She makes everyday a happy day.
~ Manicures and pedicures
~ Lipstick. I'm learning to wear it and love it.

Green Catalogs

I was thrilled to open my work email this morning and see this lil bit of info. Catalog Choice is a great, green way to cut back on paper waste. Some awesome (Anthropologie to name one) companies are working with Catalog Choice to lower some of the excess in catalogs that go to your mailbox every year. I know that I love looking at a catalog as much as the next person, but really when I can see the same thing online - is it neccesary? For me, it's not.

It's Valentine's Weekend people, show the earth a lil love too.

Horrible Wifey Blogger

I know...I know! A whole week between blogs is soo not acceptable. In my defense, I've been sick. Like can't get off the couch, my head is going to blow off sick aka migraine. Life sucked. In other life sucks news, our NYC trip has been canceled. Thanks to the weather and the Army, we are being forced to reschedule for a later date. Oh well as with anything in this military life, we roll with the punches and keep plans flexible.

In happy news, this week I discovered this blog! CheapChicas is pretty much the greatest thing ever! A blog dedicated to style with all items under $100...Why did I not know about this in college? Go check her out! I've already found several pieces to buy.

Happy Wednesday...We made it half way through! ;)

Puppy Love and French Cooking

Tonight I discovered the joy that is puppy love! Those big sweet brown eyes were almost too much to resist. No worries ya'll the Hubs will be fine with it when he finds out. You see I am the object of Nenus' affection. Nenus, by the way, is a very, sweet, and loveable dog that just happens to think that I'm the bees knees. Be jealous!

My dear friend J and I watched Julie & Julia tonight. I'm usually not much of a chick flick type girl but I loved this movie. It was cute and inspiring. It also made me want to head to the nearest book store, grab Julia Child's cookbook and start cooking all kinds of deliciousness. If you haven't seen the movie yet, you should! I promise it's good.

Wrap It Up

Well another week down and a weekend ahead. How was your week? Here is a little wrap up of mine:
- Monday: Exhausted from such a fabulous weekend with the in-laws.
- Tuesday: 2 yr wedding anni, surprise flowers and a delicous grilled dinner
- Wednesday: Woke up thinking it was Thursday - bummer!
- Thursday: Woman & Wine party - fabulous fun and wine! What more could a girl want?
- Friday: Realized that karma will get you everytime! I've been bad mouthing a friend's wedding for about a week now. Said friend just asked me to help her pick out the pics for her wedding album. I just might have learned my lesson - maybe.

Any good plans for the weekend? We are supposed to get ice. I'm kind of hoping we do. Getting iced in the Hubs and Bailey sounds fun. If not a little retail therapy and girl friend time is in the works. Oh and we have the weekly cookout to look forward to! Have a great weekend.

Someone else said it better

"For it was not into my ear you whispered but inot my heart. It was not my lips you kissed but my soul." ~ Judy Garland

Yesterday was the Hubs and I's two year wedding anniversary! Where, oh where has the time gone Iraq ? It was a fabulous day of the Hubs locking himself out of the house, surprise roses and a delicious dinner from our own kitchen. Last year we were on opposite ends of the world on our first wedding anniversary, so it was wonderful just being in the same room together. Sometimes the simple days are the best days!

Last weekend the Hubs and I headed to the beach to spend the weekend with my parents. We were so lucky to wake up to a beautiful sunrise the first morning we were there. The next morning we woke up to a completely different scene...

I haven't seen that stormy of a sea in a long time, but it made for some great pictures. This weekend the in-laws are coming to visit. I'm looking forward to lots of good eats and fun times. I truly have the best in-laws. We always have a good time!

Whether sunny or rainy, I hope your weekend is great.

*All pics by me.

Nuggets of Wisdom

When the outfit that you are wearing makes you look like you are pregnant, don't wear that outfit.

Eating Cadbury Cream Eggs will not help you look less pregnant in said outfit.

Wine cures everything. Just saying. You can also substitue coffee and chocolate for wine depending on your need.

Don't mess with an angry pms'ing woman unless you have flowers in one hand and chocolate in the other.

Happy Hump Day

It's finally Wednesday! This week feels like it is dragging by. I've limited inspiration right now. With that said, here are some current likes and dislikes.

Dislikes:
- Having nothing to do at work makes for a tres boring day!

- Walking the dog when it's 22 degrees outside.
- The after Christmas financial slump. Hello fabulous sales, too bad I have no money.

What the...

This is my mood today, ya'll. I don't know why. If anything I should be bouncing off the walls this year, but I'm not.
On this day last year, I kissed the Hubs goodbye and put him on a plane back to Iraq. This year he is home, and we get to celebrate a new year together. I'm thrilled and feel horrible guilt at the same time. I've had such a blessed holiday season (Thanksgiving - New Year's) spent with dear friends, family and the Hubs while I have friends who have spent the holidays without their hubbies. With each day my heart has gone out to them remembering what it was like while the Hubs was gone. Perhaps this is part of the reason for the dark cloud hanging over my head, I don't know. Maybe it's because all my best friends are out of town. Maybe it's because I'm pms'ing like a mo fo. Maybe it's because realistically I know this is our first and last New Year's in our current town - this makes me sad and happy at the same time. All I know is - I'm acting like I've already had to much party, and the party hasn't even started yet.
P.S. The party is at our house. There are like four people coming. I swear it's not going to suck. Drop by!

UPDATE: Day just got better - I have 7 followers! Haha hey I take what I can get. Amanda over at MODG has been cracking me up and making me smile for weeks now. Check her out!

What's The Point?

Someone please explain to me the point in working this week? I'm sitting in my office yahoo chatting with my boss. Why? Because all our customers are off of work this week. So here we sit with nothing to do - fabulous! I'm running out of things to do. I have:
1) Stalked everyone on facebook
2) Shopped all the Year End sales from the 100 email brochures that I have received
3) Texted the Hubs and friends
4) Come up with several get rich quick ideas that turned out not to be so quick
5) Debated the validity of us getting snow tomorrow

I'm running out of things to do. Any ideas?

Incredible Christmas

The Hubs and I have spent the weekend traveling visiting family and friends. We got truly spoiled by both sets of parents. However before we headed out on Christmas Eve, the Hubs and I exchanged our gifts. The hubs was really excited about his Blu-Ray player. I was totally shocked by what he got me. First I wanted to share a picture of what our house looked like at Christmas. Bailey is sitting on top of the couch cushions. Isn't she cute?

Ok back to gifts! The first package that I opened had a hot pink travel pillow in it, so I knew we were going somewhere. It also had a ballet Christmas ornament in it. I've been getting ballet ornaments for years, so this was not a surprise. However in the next package was The Swan Princess. Ya know the Disney animated movie? I love Disney movies, but I found the choice to be a little odd. I was thoroughly confused at this point. The last thing for me to open was a card. The Hubs had specifically said to open it last. Inside the envelope were hotel reservations and tickets. The hotel reservations are for a hotel in Times Square, and the tickets are to see the New York City Ballet perform Swan Lake.
It has always been my dream to see the NYCB perform, and Swan Lake is one of my favorite ballets! Even better - we are going over Valentine's Day weekend. The Hubs and I have not spent a Valentine's Day together in three years so this is an extra special treat!

Anyone else get an extra special and surprising Christmas present this year?
